Helen Adams Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Though originally from Massachusetts, Charles Adams also fought for the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, Kerr was born in Sydney, but raised in the small town of Gunnedah, New South Wales.[4] Her parents are Therese and John Kerr, and she has a younger brother named Matthew. earning the rank of brigadier-general[6].
